The Lumicum Laboratory is operated by The Foundation for Research on Concentrated Solar Energy.
It was in the beginning of February 2008 that the foundatation was granted 3 million SEK from Sparbanksstiftelsen Norrland/The Swedish Savings Bank Foundation in Norrland to develop the solar energy laboratory in Härnösand. The Solar Energy Businessman, Joakim Byström was one of the people taking the initiative to the foundation. He has also started the two-year program for solar energy technicians in Härnösand and is founder of Absolicon Solar Concentrator AB.
- More people are beginning to understand that solar energy is an important part of the solution to the world’s energy needs. The new laboratory will give Swedish companies and researchers the opportunity to be the best in the world, says Joakim Byström.
Sparbanksstiftelsen Norrland/The Swedish Savings Bank Foundation in Norrland was at the time, together with ten other regional Savings Bank Foundations, one of the largest owners of Swedbank.
